Efficient, Effective & Accessible Method of Supporting Mental Health
What is the Take Control Course?
A 90-minute, 6-week group mental health and wellbeing course, which is geared around control and successful goal pursuit. The course introduces people to a new way of thinking about their lives. They learn how to prioritise what aspects of their life they need to control and which they don’t. We introduce methods to help people identify their overall values and principles and draw on their own strengths and resources to meet them within their life.
The course helps people to identify the most pernicious reason for distress – internal conflict. For example, the strive for promotion can conflict with spending more time with family, and the goal of eating tasty, unhealthy food can conflict with weight control. People can feel distressed when faced with internal conflict, and this course provides individuals with tools to help them resolve their internal conflict and to reclaim a sense of control in their life in an accessible and succinct manner.
The course is based on control theory, which has been used extensively within clinical psychology, counselling and life coaching. This course empowers the attendees with the principles of this approach.
